STOTT PILATES® Instructor Training is BACK in Minnesota!
Certification programs and CECs are now offered in Minnesota for STOTT Pilates Instructor Training, the gold standard in Pilates certification
Someone recently asked me how I chose which certification program to go through when I chose my Pilates Instructor Training.
Fitness and Pilates Instructor background
I had been a fitness instructor for nearly 20 years so I wasn’t new to movement. I took the Intensive Mat Plus (IMP) course early on through a recommendation from a friend. If I’m being completely truthful, I didn’t research the certification. It was local. It was close. It was in-person, and it was affordable. I always knew STOTT PILATES was considered the gold standard in Pilates so I trusted what I had heard. After completing the IMP course, it was upon applying the STOTT PILATES principles to my workouts that it occurred to me that I was getting more out of my fitness workouts. So I guess I could say I chose it because I tested it.
Principles and process
The basic principles: head placement, pelvis placement, rib cage placement, scapular mobility and stability, and most importantly how to breathe correctly was what continued to bring me back to STOTT. The attention to moving toward neutral spine and pelvis as well as using props when things cannot be naturally achieved made sense to me because not all bodies are the same.
STOTT’s use of props to achieve stability where clients need a little help worked for me and many clients. And the concept of working toward neutral spine and pelvis helped to re-align my postural muscles, making me feel like my body’s framework is stronger.

And so we come full circle. I tested it years ago. I LOVED it. And today I am happy to say that I brought it back to the Twin Cities for everyone else to try it.
