Mixed Reformer Pilates Mendota Heights MN

What is Mixed Reformer Pilates?

Mixed Reformer Pilates is a mixed-level class format where students of varying experience can make progress, each at their own unique level.

One of the questions we often get is “what is Mixed Reformer?” It’s a mixed level format, meaning that people of varying levels and abilities can take the class. Essential, intermediate, and advanced options may be given. We take essential level work and give you progressions and preps to move TOWARD advanced exercises. It takes some patience and practice to build your strength to move through Pilates repertoire. This class allows you to work at your level.

How is Mixed Reformer different from Leveled Classes?

Pilates repertoire is broken down into levels: essential, intermediate, or advanced. When it comes to signing up for classes, if you are looking for a specific level, it may not be available at a time that works for you. With Mixed Reformer all levels can join. We offer Mixed Reformer up to 25 times a week at all different times of the day. You can work at an essential, intermediate, or advanced level. Whether you are struggling or excelling, the instructor will guide you to appropriate changes, but more importantly you will be guided by your instructor to make correct decisions on what level is right for you. This way, you can continue your practice at a level that is appropriate for where you are at that moment.

When should I start Mixed Reformer?

Essential-level work is necessary to build a solid foundation to move through your practice. Mixed Reformer encompasses all levels so this is where you should start GROUP work. You will gain essential skills by taking one-on-ones before group work. If you’re uncertain how many, ask your instructor! It’s important that you are guided to the right place.

How does Mixed Reformer fit into the overall class offering?

Mixed Reformer is our staple class so you can get into group work at a time that works for you. Advanced Reformer is for the highly-experienced where modifications and progressions are not offered, so these two “book-end” the reformer series at the Pilates Loft. Mixed Reformer allows people of all levels to learn preps and progressions appropriate for their own level. In Mixed Reformer, instructors will guide you through progressions slowly and deliberately TOWARD advanced preps and/or repertoire. It’s not a race! Enjoy the process.

How do I start group classes?

Pilates is unlike other forms of exercise. It requires a keen sense of body awareness, mobility, and stability. We are not a drop-in studio. If you have never done Pilates, we require that you take our Studio Starter before entering a group class. Some clients will be ready for group work after those three sessions, and some may need a few more one on ones to make the transition to group work successfully.  Safety is our priority. If you have done Pilates, send us an email to schedule a time to come in, see our space, meet with a trainer and try out a reformer. We can assess you within 20 to 30 minutes if you’d be ready for a group work. Safety is our main concern.
